TORONTO, Ontario (CTV Network) — Celine Dion has canceled the remaining broadcasts of the North American leg of her “Courage World Tour” as she continues to recover from a recent health issue.

A statement posted on her website on Saturday said the Quebec singer was suffering from severe and persistent muscle spasms, with her recovery “taking longer than she expected”. The statement said Dion’s medical team continues to assess and treat his condition.

Dion had completed the first 52 shows of the tour before the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020. The now canceled shows in Canada and the United States had already been rescheduled from March 9 to April 22, 2022.

Dion said in the statement that she hoped to be “ready to go now,” but needed to be patient and follow the regimen prescribed by her doctors.

“There’s a lot of planning and preparation going into our shows, so we have to make decisions today that will affect plans two months from now,” Dion said.

“I will be so happy to be back to full health, as well as all of us to overcome this pandemic, and I can’t wait to be back on stage.”

Dion added that she was “very touched” by all the words of encouragement from fans online.

“I feel your love and support and it means the world to me,” Dion said.

The news comes after Dion announced in October that she would be delaying the opening of her new show in Las Vegas due to spasms. The European leg of Dion’s world tour is still scheduled to begin on May 25, 2022 in Birmingham, England.

According to the release, tickets purchased with a credit card at authorized outlets for North American dates will automatically be refunded.

Ticket holders of canceled performances will soon receive an email notification with more information, the statement said.
