The ‘final’ dates for the Genesis UK tour are postponed due to positive COVID tests within the group.
The group were forced to stop their last four UK dates of Last Domino? Tour due to the positive case. The statement released by the group announcing the postponement did not specify who tested positive.
“This is an extremely frustrating development for the group, who are devastated by this unfortunate turn of events,” the statement from Genesis read. âThey hate having to take these measures, but the safety of the public and the touring crew should be a priority. They can’t wait to see you when they get back.
Genesis Tour UK – Show dates postponed
- SSE Hydro in Glasgow – October 8
- O2 Arena in London – October 11, 12, 13
The Genesis Tour kicked off in Birmingham, England on September 20. The last domino? The tour features Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford, accompanied by guitarist Daryl Stuermer and 20-year-old Phil’s son Nic Collins on drums. Phil Collins recently frankly explained why his son is replacing him.
Collins says subsequent surgeries in 2009 and 2015 on his back affected his nerves. âI’m a little physically disabled which is very frustrating because I would love to play up there,â Collins told the BBC in an interview. “I can barely hold a [drum]stay with that hand, so there are some physical things that get in the way.
Phil Collins described this Genesis tour as a way for the old guard to put the band to bed.
“We’re all men our own age and I think to some extent that’s probably putting him to bed,” he continued in the BBC interview. “I think that, generally for me, I don’t know if I want to go out on the road anymore.”
Collins says Genesis was supposed to go on tour in 2020, but the return has been postponed due to the pandemic. The last domino? The tour is scheduled to begin Nov. 15 for the North American tour.
This is the first time that Genesis has toured the United States in over 14 years. Planned stops on this tour include Washington, DC, Charlotte, Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. The group is also visiting Canada for two shows in Montreal and Toronto. Collins says that Genesis’ North American tour will continue on November 15, but that it will likely end there with no additional dates in 2022.
