Genesis postpones UK tour dates following positive Covid tests

English rock band Genesis have been forced to cancel four UK tour dates after members of the group tested positive for the coronavirus ahead of performances in London and Glasgow.
The group, which enjoyed huge international success in the 1980s, said in a statement Friday that they were “devastated” by the show that night and that performances for the next three days would not be held.
The statement did not say whether the positive tests had any impact on plans for Genesis’ next North American tour, which is due to begin in Chicago on November 15.
“Following the advice and guidance from the government, it is with immense regret that the last four shows of Genesis’ Last Domino? Tour … had to be postponed due to positive tests for Covid-19 within the group” , indicates the press release.
âThis is an extremely frustrating development for the band who are devastated by this unfortunate turn of events. They hate having to take these steps, but the safety of the public and the touring crew must come first. They look forward to seeing you at their return .”
The group said they were working to reschedule the postponed shows at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro Arena and London’s O2 Arena and would announce new dates “as soon as possible”.
Tickets purchased for performances will remain valid for the revamped shows, they said.
The upcoming tour of the United States and Canada is expected to include shows in Washington DC, Charlotte, Montreal, Toronto, Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland and Philadelphia.
The 2021 tours, Genesis’s first since 2007, saw the line-up of Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford expand to include Nicholas, Collins’ 20-year-old son, on drums.
The original trio of the group is now in the early 70s.
Collins, who previously provided vocals and drums, was unable to perform due to ongoing health issues.
