Hamilton’s Arkells shared a new track from his seventh studio album, Blink Twice, which is slated for release on September 23, on Thursday. The band also announced a 22-date international tour with Lights, K. Flay and Joel Plaskett Emergency.
Lights is featured on the track Human Beings – a song frontman Max Kerman calls “chaotic”.
“We wanted chaotic energy; something like Talking Heads meets Billy Joel,” says Kerman. “We learn a lot about ourselves on this record. This song is about finding a truer version of yourself, the one you’ve hidden in the past. The song is in search of a kind of freedom that conventional life paths have to offer. Once we got it in good condition we sent it to our friend Lights who is the best at writing about this kind of find.
Lights calls Human Beings an anthem for those in need of a revamp.
“To me, this song feels like an anthem to search for times and people that can make you feel something,” Lights says. “We all need a shake-up and we all hate being stuck in a rut. We all, as human beings, share commonalities and needs that bring us together.
You can watch the Human Beings video featuring Lights on the official Arkells YouTube channel.
