Metric announced their comeback with a new album, debut single, and massive North American tour. Entitled Formenterathe Canadian band’s eighth studio album arrives on July 8.

Of the lead single, “All Comes Crashing”, singer Emily Haines said “it’s a love song that goes beyond romantic love, it’s an expression of solidarity with anyone. or that you would like to have on your side in the event of a disaster”. The track reflects this by moving from buzzing, heart-pounding choruses to quiet, thoughtful verses. “Starting over won’t be easy, shattered split / Split tomorrow from today,” Haines sings. “Knowing what you know / just makes it harder to think straight / start after the breakup.”

In support of Formentera, Metric also announced their huge “Doomscroller Tour”. Kicking off with a two-night stand on August 11 and 12 at the Royal Theater in Victoria, British Columbia, the 39-city trek concludes with another double-header at New York’s Brooklyn Steel on October 26 and 27. The Canadian leg running from kickoff to September 24 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, will have support from Dear Rouge and Bartees Strange on select dates, while the US half openers (September 24 in Asheville to Brooklyn concerts) will be announced.
