Prominent guitarist Marisa Anderson announces new album Still, Here; out September 23, new single “Waking” out now

Prominent guitarist Marisa Anderson announced their new album Still herereleased on September 23, 2022. Still here follows Anderson’s recent acclaimed collaborations Acceleration with beater Jim White (The Dirty Three) and Lost futures with the guitarist William Tyler. Along with the album announcement, Anderson shared the single “Waking,” an achingly beautiful nylon-string acoustic guitar track that showcases Anderson’s immediate and pure elemental ability to speak through his instrument.
Marisa Anderson’s lucid and eloquent approach to guitar music and composition has established her as an unparalleled performer and an insightful and coveted collaborator. Anderson’s work draws from a mosaic of folk music and lives in dialogue with a myriad of musical traditions. His music is inviting and candid, drawing the listener into sprawling ecosystems and intimate corners, from arid landscapes to verdant groves, from passionate community experiences to pensive seclusions. As a master of his instrument, Anderson translates abstractions into undeniably moving music, retracing traditional folk tunes, imagined sci-fi movies and hazy sonic sanctuaries. Still here is Anderson at his most direct, laying bare his practice of processing and understanding the world through music and distilling that practice into pieces as expressive as they are piercing.
Marisa Anderson will be touring across the US, UK and Europe in support of the album, including dates with William Tyler and festivals such as Greenman, Alter, Meakusma and Clonakilty International Guitar Festival.
