Queen guitarist Brian May tests positive for COVID-19 – The Hollywood Reporter

Brian May, lead guitarist for Queen, has tested positive for COVID-19.
The musician, who co-founded the legendary rock band with the late singer Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor, shared the news on his Instagram feed on Saturday, along with two photos from his test showing the result.
“Yeah. The shocking day has finally come for me. The dreaded double red line,” May wrote.
He went on to describe his final days as “truly awful”, although he said he was fine and asked for “no sympathy please”. May shared a few more details about his case, including how and where he may have contracted COVID. However, he promised to eventually ‘tell’ his experience in the job before encouraging people to stay safe during the holidays.
“PLEASE take extra precaution out there folks. This thing is incredibly transmissible. You really do NOT want this to ruin YOUR Christmas,” he concluded his message.
Saturday, the New York Times reports that daily cases in the UK on Friday were over 92,000, compared to around 85,000 cases reported on Thursday. the UK Health Security Agency also followed a significant spike in omicron variant cases across the country, beginning on December 13. The spread of omicron comes as the UK film and theater industries brace for a new wave of the pandemic already affecting some productions.
The West End production starring Eddie Redmayne of Cabaret canceled its remaining performances for the week of December 13 after members of the company tested positive. The production of hamilton in the West End also canceled its Friday December 17 show after lead actor Karl Queensborough tested positive for COVID-19. Movie-wise, the Colin Firth-directed WWII spy drama Operation Mincemeat’s the release date has been pushed back by Warner Bros. from January 14 to April 22.
