Songwriters UNDER THE COVERS WITH VICTORIA SHAW Reveal the Stories Behind the Hit Songs

ALL ARTS, the multimedia arts platform launched earlier this year by WNET (parent company of New York PBS stations THIRTEEN and WLIW21 and operator of NJTV), is pleased to announce the launch of Songwriters Under the Covers with Victoria Shaw, a new, intimate, musical performance and storytelling series created in collaboration with award-winning songwriter Victoria Shaw and Brighton Entertainment. Songwriters Under the Covers with Victoria Shaw highlights the songwriters of some of pop, rock and country music’s greatest hits.
In each episode, top-selling songwriters share the little-known stories behind their hit songs as well as an intimate acoustic performance live on stage. âEvery song has a story, and the songwriters under the covers with Victoria Shaw are the perfect vehicle to tell those stories. It’s the perfect balance of great performances and compelling storytelling,â notes Brad J. Fuss, chairman of Brighton Entertainment and executive producer. Director of the show.
Victoria Shaw is the host of the new program. A songwriter herself, Shaw is known for writing hits such as “The River” by Garth Brooks, “Nobody Wants to be Lonely” by Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera, as well as songs recorded for artists such as Faith Hill, Billy Ray Cyrus, Reba McEntire, LeAnn Rimes, Tricia Yearwood, Olivia Newton-John and many more artists. The episodes were filmed at the Birdland Theater in New York, where Shaw presented this style of “songwriter in the round” performance popular on the Nashville music scene.
Shaw notes: âI have been doing these shows for 20 years. I am fortunate to know a lot of talented, funny and wonderful musicians who are dear friends. I invite these friends who happen to be the best selling songwriters of the world. pop, rock and country worlds to join me on stage to perform their huge hits and reveal what went into the creation of these iconic songs. It’s very organic, and my shows make you feel like you’re hanging out in my living room in listening to a group of songwriters singing songs, swapping stories and making jokes. That’s my goal every night, to make my shows feel like a party at home. “
“It feels more like listening to a studio session with friends than watching a show,” adds Fuss. âAll the best songwriters seem to know each other, and they certainly all know Victoria, which is why she’s the perfect host. We not only hear acoustic versions of our favorite songs sung by those who wrote them, but we hear the little-known stories and the anecdotes behind them that are seldom told. “
Songwriters featured in the series include Brett James (“Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood), Desmond Child (“Livin ‘on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi), Angela Hunte (Alicia Keys and “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z), Erika Ender (Daddy Yankee and “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi), Kevin Cronin (“Keep on Loving You” by REO Speedwagon), Mark Hudson (“Livin ‘on the Edge” by Aerosmith), and Moreover.
Songwriters Under the Covers with Victoria Shaw will premiere Wednesday, October 16 at 8:30 p.m. on the ALL ARTS streaming app and website, available nationwide, and on the broadcast channel. ALL ARTS from the New York area.
