Strange routine Nyashinski does while recording hit songs
Some artists choose to do breathing exercises, others meditate, drink alcohol, or engage in other activities that help them relax.
Nyashinski, who is one of Kenya’s top lyricists, also has his own routine which has been seen by celebrities who have had the pleasure of seeing him record his hit songs.
In three separate feature films, filmmaker Abel Mutua, Sauti Sol’s Polycarp Fancy Fingers, and music producer Keggah all told a similar story about the magic that happens when the rapper is in the booth.
In an episode on his YouTube channel, Mutua said he was invited to a recording session by Cedo, who produced music for Nyashinski, where he met the rapper in a hotel room in Eldoretto to the first time.
Marathon Runner registration with Abel Mutua
Abel met Cedo on a Safaricom Live tour when they were both on the crew and the producer noticed how fascinated Mutua was watching him make music.
“After we finished the show in Eldoret, we went to the Boma hotel where our rooms were and Cedo hinted that he would invite me over for a recording that evening. Around 9:30 p.m., he called me and asked me to go to his room where he had set up a recording booth,Said the actor.
Abel was overjoyed to meet Nyashinski but as he spoke he noticed the rapper seemed engaged in his phone and the actor thought it mattered but the stories continued.
“After I finished multitasking (talking and writing a song), he signaled to Cedo that he was ready to record and asked me to turn off the lights. I was a little surprised as it was now 11pm which meant we would be in total darkness.
“Nyashinski told me that he preferred to record in the dark because he likes to feel alone in the studio. He took one last look at the lyrics and I turned the lights off. By the end of the recording session we knew it would be a success», Remembers Abel Mutua.
Record Now That You Know With Beat Ya Keggah
Music producer Beat ya Keggah was the genius behind Nyashinski’s comeback song and he explained what happened after Nonini put him in touch with the rapper who was living in the United States at the time.
Keggah led Nyashinski to a studio where he was also surprised when the hitmaker asked to record in the dark.
“He walks into the cabin, closes all the curtains and turns off all the lights. Everyone across the room was shocked and I was confused,Keggah recalled in an interview with CTA.
The producer volunteered to buy some snacks as it looked like the night was going to be long. However, 6 minutes later, Keggah returned from the vending machine to find that Nyashinski had already finished recording the song.
Short and sweet recording with Polycarp Fancy Fingers.
Polycarp, in a recent CTA interview, said that Short and Sweet was recorded when Nyashinski visited him one evening while hanging out with other members of Sauti Sol.
Much like Abel Mutua, they believed Nyashinski was just on the phone and not part of the conversation until it was time to record.
“You don’t even know he’s writing he just surprises you … he’s writing on his phone so you think he’s texting or Instagram and not part of the discussion or maybe he isn’t. don’t like it.
“Nyash likes to record alone. Had to kick everyone out of the studio and we’re recording,Polycarp said, reiterating how much the rapper enjoys privacy.
Music experts say bright lighting in a studio is likely to make an artist more embarrassed, especially if there are other people in the room watching.
However, a darker room would soothe some of that anxiety they may be feeling and help them relax.
