“The potential is definitely there”

Popular Swedish progressive metal band Burst called it quits in 2009, played a reunion show in 2018 at Spain’s Be Prog festival, then disappeared altogether. The group recently returned to announce a new vinyl box set called A maze of layers and three reunion shows in November alongside norna and By Wiberg.
Now, of course, the big question – does Burst make their first new album since 2008? According to the guitarist Jonas Rydbergit could happen! Rydberg said it really depends on what the mood around the reunion shows and how the group feels once they get together again.
“Yeah, new music, that’s the big thing, isn’t it? Listen, I’m sure we could write some awesome music if we found out we could hang out and have a good time together in the rehearsal space once more.
“There are a lot of things that didn’t work the way we wanted at the time, or that we weren’t competent enough to do or achieve as it should have been. There are also a lot of ideas who ever turned into anything and other than that, hey – we’re so much older now with so much more experience.”
“So, I mean, the potential is definitely there. It’s mainly a question of whether we like doing this together, whether we find that we’re having a good time. And if we do, and whether we want to continue to playing live and touring or whatever. , eventually we’ll have to do something again. So well, I don’t know. If we’re having a good time, of course. Why not?”
